A feminist is a person whose beliefs and behavior are based on feminism. One thing that i didn't know about Phillis Wheatley is that she was the first African American, the first slave, and the third woman in the United States to publish a book of poems. Also I didn't know that black women could do well in that time period.

*Sojourner Truth*
The woman who i chose for Women's History Month was Sojourner Truth. I learned that she was one of the activists who campaigned for free land for former slaves. Sojourner worked to help newly freed slaves through the Freedman's Relief Association. Also, she became involved in a religious group called the Progressive Friends (an offshoot of the Quakers). They believed in abolition, women's rights, non-violence, and communicating with spirits.

A feminists is a person who believes in the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men.

A feminist is a woman who stands up for all women. I learned that Elizabeth Freedman was the first black women to be freed in Massachusetts and she did it by going to court because she overheard men talking about womens' rights. She was very smart and she must have been able to read.

The two things I learned about Sojourner Truth was that she was first sold at age 9 to Charles Hardenburg. Famous Quote ""I did not run off, for I thought that wicked, but I walked off, believing that to be all right." She began campaigning for the federal government to provide former slaves with land in the "new West.

~Maria Stewart~

Two things that I learnd from Maria Stewart is that when she was 5 years old she became an orphan and was a servant. Another thing that I learned was that she was a political activist. She wrote many essays and explained victimization, tyranny, and injustice. She also became a religous commiter.

I chose Phillis Wheatley. Phillis Wheatley was the first African American, the first slave, and the third woman in the United States to publish a book of poems. She published her first poem in 1767, and six years later, she published a book, Poems on Various Subjects.

What is a feminists?
Feminism comprises a number of social, cultural and political movements, theories and moral philosophies concerned with gender inequalities and rights for women.

A feminist is a person who believes in gender equality and rights for women in the workplace, as well as the world. Sojourner truth became a women's rights activist during her life, making famous attributes, including her speech, "Ain't I
A Woman?" and the Underground Railroad. The UR helped willing slaves escape to freedom with her help, along with the help of whites who also didn't like slavery. Two things I learned about Ms. Truth was that she changed her name, which was originally Isabella Baumfree, and that she was born in New York but died in Michigan.

Something that I learned about Phyllis Wheatley is that her first poem being published at the age of twelve during a time when women and slaves were unable to get an education. Something else that I learned about Phyllis Wheatley is that she was the first African American woman to earn a living from her writing.

I learned a lot about Maria Stewart::

In Stewart's essays, she acknowledged that her life could be in danger, but asserted that she was ready to serve as a martyr for the cause. Just as David Walker had done, she also directed her essays to blacks instead of white abolitionists. She urged blacks to exercise virtue and character equal to the white standard. She believed that once whites were shown the worthiness of blacks, they would finally recognize the equality of the races.

A feminist is a woman who fights for what she believes in and who fights for their rights.
Sojourner Truth taught me that you should never give up on something that you want even if it all seems to be going wrong. She also taught me that it is good to fight for what you believe in because although you may feel like you don't make a difference, every one can help to make a change.
